How to make money with Viral Marketing
|
I create QUALITY freeware/shareware applications that are
really basic and directly market one product or affiliate program.
Then I distribute them to about 600 software directories using a software
submission program . Honestly, almost all the traffic comes from the big sites
that only accept legit programs that aren't just spam or "browsers" that open an
affiliate link.
So don't build junk; it's not worth your time.
This has generated almost 490,000 unique visitors this year in few different
markets. I make about anywhere from $90 - $250 a day as a result of these
passive efforts (so far, increasing continually as I put more stuff out there).
Also, I have one campaign right now that acts as a list-builder and gets about
30 to 50 new subscribers a day.
I don't want to reveal niches, but for example one of my submissions was a
currency converter that plugged into a Forex affiliate program and has generated
some decent commissions since, and continues to do so.
The traffic is nearly instant and it doesn't really stop, either.
My best single day was just over $9,100.00 in sales straight from organic, viral
marketing. I was pretty stoked; it was an unusual - but very welcome - spike in
traffic and sales. (That wasn't forex, it was another product)
Basic, Easy SEO Linking Methods That Are Supposedly Dead
There's a lot of people out there who say that reciprocal linking and even
linking in general is "dead".
They're lying, or they're 'parroting' something (inaccurate) that they've heard.
Reciprocal links aren't as effective as one-way links for search engine
marketing, but they DO have an impact on your traffic - especially in search
engines like MSN and Yahoo. And because it's so easy to do (or outsource), I
continue to do it, and it continues to work.
But what I do is a mix of everything when it comes to linking. I build no less
than one new site a month with about 15 - 20 pages whose sole purpose is to
promote ONE affiliate program that converts really well.

Because there's also topics and niches that have an enormous amount of
traffic - but you'll be hard-pressed to make anything except pocket-change from
it due to the nature of the market and the "customer profile".
For example, I have a site in a certain niche that gets more than 1,000 unique,
targeted visitors a day (at least), and yet it only averages about $300 or $400
a month (at most) in revenue because of the customer profile - and it's TARGETED
traffic about a niche that has numerous successful products (weird, huh?).
In contrast, I also have a single 10-page mini-site with far less traffic (about
400 visitors a day) that pulls in about 9 affiliate sales daily at an average
sale price of $25.00. It's straight organic, search engine traffic - not PPC or
anything fancy. And it took me 2 days to build and 3 weeks to market - and
that's it. It's been running strong for 6 months, and the traffic is only
increasing.
It's one of numerous sites with similar results.
But the common denominator with ALL of my successful web properties is that they
focus on attracting select and very specific types of visitors, and only in
markets that are best suited to my "lazy" approach for making a "hands-off"
fortune.
The key to effective viral: Create and execute an idea that's intriguing
enough to get consumers to interact. Burger King has used wacky ideas by agency
Crispin Porter + Bogusky to promote its chicken sandwiches and salads online.
"Interruption or disruption as the fundamental premise of marketing" no longer
works, says Jeff Hicks, chief executive and partner at Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
"You have to create content that is interesting, useful or entertaining enough
to invite (the consumer). Viral is the ultimate invitation."
Hicks' agency on Wednesday won the Grand Prix (best overall), as well as four
Cannes Lions, in the online ad category at this week's International Advertising
Festival here. The annual competition honors the world's best advertising in
eight categories.
Brewer Anheuser-Busch has hired Gregg and Evan Spiridellis to create Web
entertainment this summer for Budweiser. They are the brothers who created This
Land, an animated spoof of the presidential election that spread across the Web
last fall eventually to be seen by an estimated 80 million viewers.
If you've studied marketing at all I have no doubt that you have come across
articles and resources that strongly encourage "word of mouth" and "referral
After all these types of marketing avenues are often called the best thing that
has happened to marketers after the invention of advertisements.
What questions are your prospective customers asking and in what way are
your current customers responding? The extent of influence certain customers'
comments or views carries can be much more than you think. What your customers
say about your product is extremely important as they will influence the future
purchase decisions of their families, relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors.
